Adafruit Grand Central M4 Express featuring the SAMD51

Description

The Adafruit Grand Central is a powerhouse development board showcasing the Microchip ATSAMD51. This robust board operates akin to a bustling train station, powered by a 120MHz Cortex M4 processor with floating point support, ensuring your code performs with speed and efficiency.

Packed to the brim with features, it's the first SAMD board to match the Arduino Mega form factor, loaded with pins, abundant analog inputs, dual DAC outputs, 8 MB of QSPI Flash, SD card socket, and a NeoPixel. It's compatible with Metro shields, featuring standard analog pins and SPI/UART/I2C support.

Specifications include:

  • 120 MHz Cortex M4 core
  • 1 MB flash, 256 KB RAM
  • 70 GPIO pins (16 analog in, 2 true analog out)
  • 8x hardware SERCOM
  • 22x PWM outputs
  • Stereo I2S input/output with MCK pin
  • 12-bit Parallel capture controller
  • AES (256 bit), true RNG, Pubkey controller

Its power versatility shines with 6-12V DC or micro USB power options, featuring automatic transition and an on/off switch. The Grand Central's USB port seamlessly handles serial communication without external converters and acts as an HID device. With built-in debugging LEDs, handling data is straightforward.

The integrated 8 MB QSPI Flash functions like a mini hard drive, perfect for CircuitPython, Arduino, or data logging via USB. A micro SD card slot offers additional storage without SDIO support. The UF2 bootloader simplifies reprogramming, perfect for CircuitPython or Arduino IDE uploads.

Ideal for intensive projects, CircuitPython runs excellently on this chip with 256 KB of RAM at its disposal.
