Adafruit CharliePlex LED Matrix Bonnet - 8x16 Warm White LEDs

You won't be able to look away from the mesmerizing patterns created by this Adafruit CharliePlex LED Matrix Display Bonnet. This 16x8 LED display can be placed atop any Raspberry Pi computer with a 2x20 connector, forming a bright, grid of 128 charlieplexed LEDs. A built-in charlieplex driver operates over I2C.

We offer these Bonnets in a variety of vivid colors; this one features a warm white LED matrix. The I2C LED driver chip provides PWM control for each LED, enabling beautiful lighting effects without extensive programming. Specify the desired LED’s brightness, and the chip handles the rest, offering 8-bit (256-level) dimming control.

The IS31FL3731 chip, powered by 3.3V, holds RAM for eight frames of display memory, allowing you to create seamless animations. Utilizing I2C means it only uses the SDA/SCL pins on your Pi, and these can be shared with other I2C devices and sensors. The device is fully assembled, eliminating the need for soldering, allowing immediate use.
