Adafruit 0.8" 8x16 LED Matrix FeatherWing Display Kit - White

Chirp with delight when you see how easy it is to create your own 8x16 LED matrix display for any Feather. This kit combines two adorable miniature LED matrices with a FeatherWing driver board, each measuring just 0.8 inches square. Despite their small size, these matrices offer the same capabilities as their larger counterparts. Double them up for a total of 128 bright white LEDs.

This display combo pack includes a White Adafruit 0.8" 8x16 LED Matrix FeatherWing Display, featuring two ultra-bright square 8x8 white matrices and a 16-pin header. Normally, wiring up 8x16 matrices would require 24 GPIO pins, too many for most projects. Thanks to the 16x8 LED matrix backpack PCB and its integrated HT16K33 I2C LED matrix driver, all multiplexing work is handled efficiently over just two I2C pins.

The 16x8 backpack is perfect for crafting scrolling or small video displays. In our example, it’s set up to showcase small bitmap emoticons, but text can also be displayed, moving like a sign in front of a miniature car dealership. Some assembly is required; soldering the two matrices onto the FeatherWing is simple and takes about 15 minutes.
