Description

You won't be able to look away from the mesmerizing patterns created by this Adafruit CharliePlex LED Matrix Display Bonnet. This 16x8 LED display can be placed atop any Raspberry Pi computer with a 2x20 connector, creating a beautiful, bright grid of 128 charlieplexed LEDs.

It comes equipped with a built-in charlieplex driver that is operated over I2C. These Bonnets in various vivid colors, with this version featuring a blue LED matrix. The I2C LED driver chip offers PWM control for each LED in the 16x8 grid, allowing for stunning lighting effects with minimal pin usage. Simply specify the grid position and brightness, and it's all managed automatically, providing 8-bit (256 level) dimming for each LED.

The IS31FL3731 chip efficiently runs on 3.3V power and includes enough RAM for 8 distinct frames of display memory, letting you create animations displayed with single commands. Its I2C interface uses only the SDA/SCL pins on your Raspberry Pi and can coexist with other I2C devices and sensors. It is shipped fully assembled, requiring no soldering, ensuring immediate plug-and-play functionality.

Program it using our CircuitPython library, compatible with Linux computers like Raspberry Pi. With just a pip install, display simple graphics or text as part of the provided examples. It works seamlessly with any Raspberry Pi model, from Pi 1, B+, Pi 2, Pi 3, Pi 4, Pi 5, to Pi Zero.
