Sparkfun Teensy 4 Audio Shield (Rev D)

Description

The Teensy 4 Audio Shield (Rev D) is a compact and versatile solution for integrating high-quality 16-bit, 44.1kHz stereo audio into your Teensy 4.0 projects. Featuring the robust SGTL5000 stereo codec chip, it supports full-duplex audio streams and includes a built-in headphone amplifier, enabling direct connection to headphones or speakers via a 3.5mm audio jack.

With the Teensy 4.0, this shield unlocks the potential of the Teensy Audio Library, allowing you to dive into real-time audio processing. Create complex waveforms, apply effects like reverb and chorus, mix sound streams, perform spectrum analysis, and build intricate audio-reactive projects with ease.

The integrated hardware enhances your audio projects with practical features. The 3.5mm headphone jack provides a reliable stereo output, while the micro-SD card slot allows playback of audio files stored externally. An optional space for a 25k potentiometer offers physical volume control, and a footprint for adding SPI flash memory gives extra storage options.

Designed to stack seamlessly with the Teensy 4.0, the shield requires two 14x1 headers for connection, giving you flexibility in your stacking method. Consider adding a microphone and 14-pin single-row socket headers for a complete setup. Basic soldering is needed to attach headers to the shield, empowering you to customize your audio project fully.
