These hinged momentary step switches mirror the 16-step sequencer keys found on TR-808 synthesizers. Renowned for their tactile, clicky feedback, they're ideal for A/V equipment as well. They feature a built-in red LED for clear on/off status or visual feedback upon activation.
Engineered as a momentary SPDT switch, two of the four legs serve as the common connection, automatically linking to one of the remaining pins when pressed. Refer to the accompanying diagram to identify pole and throw pins. For precise verification, employ a multimeter in continuity mode. Note, these switches are unsuitable for breadboards or perf-boards and require hand-wiring or a custom PCB design.
The integrated LED is a basic 3mm, 20mA max, 2.1V forward-voltage component. As it lacks an internal resistor, a 1K resistor is recommended to prevent damage. With our LED guide, selecting the appropriate resistor is effortless, enabling PWM dimming or connection to a microcontroller's digital output as preferred.
