SparkFun Inventor's Kit Guidebook - v4.1a

Description Attachments

The SparkFun Inventor's Kit Guidebook V4.1a is a vibrant, full-colour manual that provides comprehensive, step-by-step instructions for building various projects and circuits. This guidebook includes circuit diagrams, hookup tables, full example code, and in-depth explanations of new concepts and components. It also provides troubleshooting tips to help you if you encounter any issues. By working through all the example circuits, you'll gain a firm understanding of programming electronics.

Unlike previous versions of the SIK, the V4.1 version introduces new components in the context of the circuit you are building. Each circuit builds on the previous one, culminating in a project that incorporates all the components and concepts introduced throughout the guide. With new parts and a fresh approach, the SIK V4.1 offers a unique and engaging learning experience, even for those who have used the SIK before.

Please note that this is only the guidebook for the SparkFun Inventor's Kit - V4.1. The kit itself or the individual parts used in this book will need to be purchased separately.

The V4.1a version of the guidebook includes a correction on page 73 where VCC and GND pins on the LCD were connected to the wrong power rails. This change is also highlighted on the SIK Errata page.

The guidebook can be downloaded as a PDF (31.9MB) or accessed online. Additional resources include the RedBoard Qwiic Driver Install guide and the SIK Info Page.

The guidebook includes a range of exciting projects, including Light, Sound, Motion, Display, and Robot projects. Each project comprises several circuits, each introducing new components and concepts. For example, the Light project includes circuits for blinking an LED, using a potentiometer, using a photoresistor, and building an RGB Night-Light. The Sound project includes circuits for a buzzer, a digital trumpet, and a "Simon Says" game. The Motion project includes circuits for servo motors, a distance sensor, and a motion alarm. The Display project includes circuits for an LCD "Hello, World!", a temperature sensor, and a "DIY Who Am I?" game. Finally, the Robot project includes circuits for motor basics, a remote-controlled robot, and an autonomous robot.
