Connecting the board to the rest of your system is a breeze, thanks to the Qwiic system that eliminates the need for soldering. However, if you prefer using a breadboard, 2.54mm-spaced pins are also available. The board includes a rechargeable backup battery that keeps the latest module configuration and satellite data available for up to two weeks, dramatically decreasing the time-to-first-fix. The module also features a survey-in mode, allowing it to become a base station and produce RTCM 3.x correction data.
The ZED-F9P module offers a wide range of configuration options, including geofencing, variable I2C address, variable update rates, and more. The GPS-RTK2 has five active communication ports: USB-C (which enumerates as a COM port), UART1 (with 3.3V TTL), UART2 for RTCM reception (with 3.3V TTL), I2C (via the two Qwiic connectors or broken out pins), and SPI.
The SparkFun GPS-RTK2 Board is part of the SparkFun Qwiic Connect System, an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables that enhance prototyping speed and reduce errors. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, reducing the required PCB space and ensuring polarized connections for error-free hookups. The ZED-F9P GPS-RTK2 can also be automatically detected, scanned, configured, and logged using the OpenLog Artemis datalogger system, requiring no programming, soldering, or setup.
