SparkFun GPS-RTK2 Board - ZED-F9P (Qwiic)

Description Links Attachments

The SparkFun GPS-RTK2 Board, equipped with ZED-F9P (Qwiic), is a revolutionary product that offers high-precision GPS. It is capable of dialing in the accuracy of GPS modules to millimeters. The board features the ZED-F9P module from u-blox, a top-tier module for high accuracy GNSS and GPS location solutions including RTK, which offers 10mm, three-dimensional accuracy. This allows you to know the X, Y, and Z location of any object with the precision of roughly the width of a fingernail. The ZED-F9P module is unique as it can operate both as a rover and a base station.

Connecting the board to the rest of your system is a breeze, thanks to the Qwiic system that eliminates the need for soldering. However, if you prefer using a breadboard, 2.54mm-spaced pins are also available. The board includes a rechargeable backup battery that keeps the latest module configuration and satellite data available for up to two weeks, dramatically decreasing the time-to-first-fix. The module also features a survey-in mode, allowing it to become a base station and produce RTCM 3.x correction data.

The ZED-F9P module offers a wide range of configuration options, including geofencing, variable I2C address, variable update rates, and more. The GPS-RTK2 has five active communication ports: USB-C (which enumerates as a COM port), UART1 (with 3.3V TTL), UART2 for RTCM reception (with 3.3V TTL), I2C (via the two Qwiic connectors or broken out pins), and SPI.

The SparkFun GPS-RTK2 Board is part of the SparkFun Qwiic Connect System, an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables that enhance prototyping speed and reduce errors. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, reducing the required PCB space and ensuring polarized connections for error-free hookups. The ZED-F9P GPS-RTK2 can also be automatically detected, scanned, configured, and logged using the OpenLog Artemis datalogger system, requiring no programming, soldering, or setup.

This product is compatible with u-blox® PointPerfect and includes a redemption code for 1-month of unlimited access for a single device. This allows you to take your precision to the next level with the PointPerfect GNSS augmentation service. If you purchased this product prior to January 2023 and would like to receive a redemption code, please reach out to SparkFun support with your order number and they will gladly send you one!

Key features of the SparkFun GPS-RTK2 Board include concurrent reception of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou, reception of both L1C/A and L2C bands, and a maximum navigation rate of 25Hz for PVT, 20Hz for RTK, and 25Hz for Raw. The board also offers a horizontal position accuracy of 2.5m without RTK and 0.010m with RTK. It operates at a voltage of 5V or 3.3V, with all logic at 3.3V. The board weighs 6.8g and measures 43.5mm x 43.2mm.
