The SparkFun Current Sensor Breakout is capable of measuring both DC and AC currents up to 5A. It offers full electrical isolation between the measured and sensed circuits, and provides a base sensitivity of 400mV/A. The analog output can be adjusted up to 80kHz, however, the ACS723 Sensor Breakout width filter is set to 20kHz to minimize noise during high gains. The full 80KHz bandwidth can be restored by closing the JP1 (Bandwidth Select) jumper on the back of the board.
While the ACS723 chip can handle up to 2.4kV (RMS) of isolation, it's important to note that the board is not designed for such high voltage applications. This ensures the safety and longevity of the product, making it a reliable choice for your current sensing needs.
SparkFun provides comprehensive support documentation for the Current Sensor Breakout, including a schematic, Eagle Files, a hookup guide, the ACS723 datasheet, and a GitHub repository. These resources make it easy to start using the board and integrate it into your projects.
