The Multi-function Expansion Board for UNIHIKER is an advanced module crafted to enhance the capabilities of UNIHIKER (K10 / M10) and micro:bit development boards. By integrating seamlessly with the main controller, it provides three crucial enhancements: comprehensive I/O expansion, a self-contained 18650 mobile power system, and a high-current motor and servo drive unit. This board supports the simultaneous operation of up to 4 DC motors and 6 servos, along with a variety of digital, analog, and communication ports. It is an indispensable tool for creating complex mobile robots, portable interactive devices, and intricate maker projects that require expanded connectivity and power autonomy.

The expansion board effectively tackles the common issue of limited I/O pins on the UNIHIKER development board. It offers multiple multifunctional pins, including 6 ports suitable for digital, analog, or single-bus devices, and a dedicated interface for ultrasonic sensors. Importantly, it maintains the native gold finger interface of the mainboard, ensuring continuous access to existing connections. The board also features integrated components such as two programmable RGB LEDs and an infrared transmitter/receiver, providing immediate capabilities for status indication and remote control without needing additional modules.

Designed to facilitate true project mobility, the I/O expansion board eliminates the need for bulky external battery packs and tethered power cables. It includes an integrated 18650 battery holder with complete charging and discharging management circuitry. An onboard battery level indicator clearly displays the power status for secure operation. For the high-performance UNIHIKER M10, a specially designed Type-C to HY2.0-4P power cable is supplied, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply for demanding applications.

To handle sophisticated robotics and automation tasks, the I/O expansion board is equipped with a robust drive system. It features a four-channel DC motor driver alongside six servo interfaces. The servo power supply is separate, drawing power directly from the battery to ensure that high-torque operations do not affect the main controller's stability. An exclusive 5V I2C interface is also included to provide reliable power for high-current peripherals, like the HUSKYLENS AI vision sensor, which standard 3.3V logic boards cannot support independently.

Every element of the board is engineered for practicality and resilience. The M3 mounting hole spacing on its base is compatible with LEGO brick dimensions, allowing straightforward integration into mechanical structures. A comprehensive set of status indicator lights for system power, charging, and motor direction offers immediate visual feedback for trouble-free debugging. The inclusion of an acrylic baseplate prevents accidental short circuits, while all I/O pins are equipped with electrostatic protection, enhancing safety during handling and operation.
