Description Attachments
This proximity sensor detects a metal object with a maximum distance of 4 mm from the sensor. The sensor works as an NPN transistor (normally open), which means that the voltage is cut off when a metal object is detected within 4 mm from the sensor. Pay attention! The sensor does not work on 5V.

RuubDoes it work well, can sink enough current to ground (certainly more than 100 mA), must come really close to the metal for good detection, indeed according to specs best at 2 mm.
