The LilyPad Buzzer is a compact and efficient sound device for the LilyPad system. With the ability to create a variety of noises based on the frequency of I/O toggling, it's perfect for adding auditory elements to your wearable technology projects. This buzzer is loud enough to be heard from within a pocket, yet not too loud to be obtrusive.
It's important to note that the LilyPad Buzzer is an inductive buzzer. This means that it will act as a short to ground if it's not actively being driven. To prevent any potential issues, it's recommended to set both I/O pins to low (0V) when the buzzer is not in use. Also, be aware that washing these buzzers can damage them, so it's advisable to avoid washing any part of your project that includes one of these buzzers.
The LilyPad technology, developed by Leah Buechley and co-designed with SparkFun, is a revolutionary wearable e-textile technology. Each LilyPad is ingeniously designed with large connecting pads, allowing them to be easily sewn into clothing. With a variety of input, output, power, and sensor boards available, and the added bonus of being washable, LilyPad technology truly brings wearable tech to life.
As an added bonus, a portion of every sale of the LilyPad Buzzer goes back to Dr. Leah Buechley, supporting the continued development and education in the realm of e-textiles.
The LilyPad Buzzer boasts a 20mm outer diameter and a slim 0.8mm PCB, making it a compact and unobtrusive addition to any wearable project.
For your convenience, a range of documents are available, including a schematic, Eagle Files, a datasheet for the buzzer, a LilyPad Buzzer Sticker Sheet, an All LilyPad Product Sticker Sheet, and a GitHub link.
