Back in the day, if you wanted to make a mechanical keyboard, you had to solder in expensive Cherry MX switches onto your PCB - and woe to the person who decided they wanted to change their linear keys instead of clicky ones. Bah humbug, kids these days have no idea, what with their fancy Kailh Switch Sockets - they know nothing of suffering. With these sockets, mechanical keys can snap right in, and are easily replaceable with no soldering at all. It's almost too easy.
These sockets accommodate MX and MX-compatible switches such as Cherry, Kailh, and Gateron. Used extensively in our NeoKey boards, Socket Breakout, and FeatherWing, we're offering them in a pack of twenty for those looking to prototype their own mechanical keypad projects. Ensure mechanical support with hot glue or epoxy to secure the switches during use.
