This simple dust sensor enhances your projects by offering basic particulate sensing capabilities. Featuring a single analog voltage output, it effectively utilizes an LED to detect airborne particles, providing clear insights into air quality.
The SHARP GP2Y1014AU0F Dust Sensor Module Kit requires a fast GPIO toggle, making it optimal for Arduino or other non-interpreted languages, and not compatible with CircuitPython. It provides an analog voltage output representing dust levels—higher voltage indicates dustier air, spanning from 0 to 0.5 mg/m³.
Power the sensor with 5V, while its output voltage, maxing at 3.6V, is readable by a microcontroller running on 3.3V. The kit includes the GP2Y1014AU0F sensor, a 6-pin pig-tail cable, a 150 ohm resistor, and a 220uF capacitor.
To operate, connect the components according to the instructions: Blue wire to 5V through the resistor, capacitor between 5V and ground, Yellow and Green wires to Ground, White wire to a digital output, Black wire to an analog input, and Red wire to 5V. Run an example sketch on Arduino and observe the serial monitor for readings.
