The DHT22 is a compact, digital temperature and humidity sensor perfect for environmental monitoring projects. Equipped with a capacitive humidity sensor and a thermistor, it accurately measures ambient air conditions and outputs digital data.
This sensor operates within a temperature range of -40 to 80°C and a humidity range of 0 to 100% RH, offering more precision and accuracy than its counterpart, the DHT11. While data updates every two seconds, its simple design requires only a few connections: power, data, and ground.
Installation involves connecting the left pin to a 3-5V power source, the middle pin to your data input, and the right pin to ground. Note: Each sensor needs a unique data pin as it is not compatible with Dallas One Wire protocols.
Included in the package is a 4.7K - 10K resistor for a pullup from the data pin to VCC. Whether integrating with Arduino or CircuitPython, the sensor's versatility is enhanced by an infrastructure of guides and schematics available through the Adafruit Learning System.
