Adafruit Ultimate GPS Breakout with GLONASS + GPS - PA1616D

The Ultimate GPS module is enhanced with broader global coverage, now supporting GLONASS alongside GPS. With a slightly taller profile and marginally increased power consumption, it retains functional similarity with its predecessor.

Features include -165 dBm sensitivity, 10 Hz updates, 99 channels, and compatibility with both GPS and GLONASS. It's a 5V-friendly design, requiring only 30mA of power. The module is breadboard-friendly with two mounting holes.

Specifications include RTC battery compatibility, built-in datalogging, PPS output on fix, internal patch antenna, and u.FL connector for an external active antenna. The fix status LED and Pulse-Per-Second output enhance usability, all for under $30.

Built around the MTK3333 chipset, the module tracks up to 33 satellites across 99 channels. It offers high speed, high sensitivity logging or tracking with low power usage, approximately 29 mA during navigation.

Additional enhancements: ultra-low dropout 3.3V regulator for powering with 3.3-5VDC, 5V level safe inputs, ENABLE pin for module deactivation, and an optional CR1220 coin cell footprint. A blinking red LED indicates satellite search and fix.

The standout features are external antenna support and built-in data-logging. A ceramic patch antenna provides -165 dBm sensitivity, switchable to a 3V active GPS antenna via the u.FL connector. A uFL to SMA adapter is recommended for most GPS antennas.

The package includes a fully assembled module and CR1220 coin cell holder (coin cell not included). Comprehensive tutorials offer detailed information, with example code for CircuitPython & Arduino, enhancing ease of use and functionality.
