The Adafruit Push-button Power Switch offers streamlined control of a DC power source with a tactile button. Utilizing a latching analog circuit, a single button press activates the power, and another press deactivates it. This efficient circuit uses a 3A P-FET to connect and disconnect the input to the output pin, functioning seamlessly between 3V and 14V DC, with up to a 3A load.
Its quiescent current draw is an impressively low 0.5uA, making it an energy-efficient choice. Simply connect the power source to the Ground and IN pin, and your load from Ground to OUT. A built-in red LED indicates active status, providing an easy visual cue of operation. The included 12mm tactile switch can be replaced with your preferred switch, allowing custom configurations. Additionally, a KILL pin offers a method to remotely disable the circuit, perfect for projects needing automated power-off features.
The board is delivered pre-assembled and tested, ensuring reliability right out of the box. It is breadboard-friendly, featuring 0.1" male headers for easy integration into projects. Designed with practicality in mind, it includes four mounting holes for secure installation. Note, the switch's pass-through FET means this solution is specific to 3-14V DC voltages and does not provide air-gap isolation. Its debouncing feature helps, but extremely bouncy switches could cause undesired rapid cycling. This product provides an elegant, efficient power management solution for your electronic projects.
