What's a project if it's trapped on your desk? Now you can take your Arduino anywhere you wish with the PowerBoost shield! This stackable shield goes onto your Arduino and provides a slim rechargeable power pack, with a built-in battery charger as well as DC/DC booster.
Compatible with Arduino Uno, Duemilanove, Mega, Leonardo, and Due, it uses only the GND and 5V pins. Stack other shields on top or place the PowerBoost on top. Note, the PowerBoost doesn't pass through the ICSP headers due to battery placement. So, if your stacking shield uses ICSP for data transfer, like the Ethernet Shield, stack the PowerBoost above it!
Power it with any Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer battery (3.7/4.2V). We suggest our 1200mAh or 2000mAh batteries, both fitting neatly in the empty space of the shield. Recharge via the microUSB jack and switch to shield power simply by unplugging the Arduino from USB or wall adapter.
Features include a boost converter providing at least 500mA current, peaking at 1A. An onboard fuse protects against higher current draws, safeguarding the boost converter and battery. Avoid driving motors or robots with high current spikes.
The shield comes as a kit needing light soldering for stacking headers and an optional switch for controlling power on/off. Batteries, wall adapter, and USB adapter are not included, but compatible accessories are readily available.
