Put on your sunglasses before putting this shield onto your 'duino; 40 eye-blistering RGB LEDs adorn the NeoPixel shield for a blast of configurable color. Arranged in a 5x8 matrix, each pixel is individually addressable.
Only one pin (Digital #6) is required to control all the LEDs. You can cut a trace and use nearly any other pin if customization is needed. By default, the LEDs are powered from the 5V onboard Arduino supply, ideal unless all pixels are lit at full power. Optionally, an external 4-6VDC power supply can be used via a soldered terminal block.
Polarity protection FET safeguards against accidental reverse wiring. For more brightness, chain multiple shields using the DIN and DOUT connections. However, note that using more than five shields may consume RAM if you're using an Arduino UNO.
Includes stacking and plain headers, accommodating various wiring preferences. The detailed NeoPixel Uberguide provides all necessary information, including library and example code for different Arduino boards.
