This fully-featured UDA1334A I2S Stereo DAC breakout is a perfect match for any I2S-output audio interface. It's affordable but sounds great! The NXP UDA1334A is a jack-of-all-I2S-trades. You can use 3.3V to 5V logic levels (a rarity) and process multiple formats by setting two pins to high or low.
The DAC processes data immediately, providing a clear, analog stereo line-level output. Even without MCLK in I2S interfaces like Raspberry Pi, it generates the proper clock from the bitclock signal. You can choose input formats such as classic I2S, or 16-bit, 20-bit, or 24-bit left justified data.
It can automatically generate a clock, requiring you to only connect Data In, Word Select, and Bit Clock lines. Features include a mute pin and a de-emphasis filter. Integrated ferrite beads, a low-dropout regulator, and a band-pass filter ensure clean output.
Testing with a sine-wave generator in the 20-20KHz range showed no attenuation or distortion. Outputs are available via a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack or breadboard-friendly pads. Each order includes one I2S Stereo DAC breakout and headers for soldering.
