This delightful ladybug moves in a zigzag pattern along walls using a bump sensor that alternates power between its two motors. When the sensor detects the wall, the ladybug moves away, and when the sensor loses contact, it steers back towards the wall. This straightforward behavior allows it to effectively follow nearly any vertical surface on its left side.
Assembly is a breeze with pre-assembled components that snap easily into the plastic body. Only a diagonal cutter is needed, making it an ideal project for beginners. For added customization, stickers for the eyes and spots are included, though additional paint for the head is not provided. Tamiya suggests using TS-29 semi-gloss black paint for a polished look, but any generic black spray paint for plastics will also work well.
For those interested in more complex projects, the ladybug's design allows for customization. With two independent motors, the kit can serve as a foundation for personal projects, offering ample space for adding custom electronics or modifications to the plastic base.
Note that this is a kit and requires assembly. It operates on a single AA battery, which is not included, and is not compatible with NiMH batteries. Painting the ladybug's head requires additional paint, not included in the kit.
