Adafruit CAN Bus FeatherWing - MCP2515

CAN Bus, originally designed for vehicles, has evolved into a vital networking standard for robotics and sensor networks requiring extended range and reliable addressing capabilities. Featuring two-wire differential signaling, CAN Bus excels in long distances and noisy environments by supporting message transmissions at approximately 1 Mbps.

The Adafruit CAN Bus FeatherWing, equipped with the MCP2515 controller and TJA1051/3 transceiver, seamlessly interfaces with any Feather board. The MCP2515 chipset ensures broad support through Arduino and CircuitPython drivers, requiring minimal connections with just an SPI port and two pins. Effortlessly send and receive messages in both standard and extended formats at up to 1 Mbps.

This FeatherWing includes valuable enhancements such as a 5V charge-pump generator for smooth 5V output on 3.3V boards, a 3.5mm terminal block for easy data line access, and a convenient 120-ohm termination resistor that is easily removable. An optional edge-launch DE-9 connector slot can link to CAN devices, and pre-connected CS and INT pins ensure quick integration. Assembly of the header is simple, allowing users to quickly get started with CAN Bus applications.
