Create your own smart LEDs effortlessly with our compact LED driver chip, featuring the same robust chip as our NeoPixel strip and pixels. This tiny SOIC-8 package is straightforward to solder, driving either a single common-anode RGB LED or three individual single-color LEDs.
With each output delivering approximately 18mA constant current, expect consistent color regardless of voltage fluctuations. The NPN transistor outputs eliminate the need for choke resistors, streamlining your design.
Chain multiple pixels by simply linking the output of one chip to the input of another. The single data line uses a timing-specific protocol and is compatible with real-time microcontrollers like AVR, Arduino, and PIC. Note that it's unsuitable for Linux-based and interpreted microcontrollers such as netduino.
The chip supports two speeds—400KHz and 800KHz—and our well-crafted NeoPixel library for Arduino backs both. Due to its timing requirements, a 4MHz or faster processor is necessary when using the slower timing rate.
This package includes 10 individual chips. Our Adafruit EAGLE library offers a ready-to-use component for easy integration into your projects.
