Adafruit DS3231 Precision RTC Breakout

The DS3231 is an extremely accurate I²C-integrated Real Time Clock (RTC) with an onboard Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) and crystal, ensuring precision timekeeping. Unlike traditional RTCs that rely on external crystals prone to temperature-induced drift, the DS3231 incorporates the crystal within the chip, matched with a temperature sensor to automatically adjust for frequency changes.

With a compact and breadboard-friendly breakout design, it is ideal for applications that demand reliable time data, such as datalogging and clock systems. The integrated setup allows for sustained accuracy, even during power disruptions, when paired with a coin cell battery for backup. Assembly is straightforward, thanks to the provided breakout and header pieces, facilitating seamless integration.
