Adafruit Wire Light LED Strand - 10 Green LEDs + Coin Cell Holder

Add sparkle to your project with these lovely silver wire LED strands. They use two coated silver wires that prevent shorts, with tiny 1000mcd LEDs bonded onto them and coated with epoxy. The result is a very flexible silver wire featuring sparkly "fairy" lights that are much less visible than typical LEDs.

These strands are waterproof, making them perfect for outdoor and underwater applications, provided the battery holder is protected. Each strand features 10 LEDs spaced about 10cm or 4 inches apart, creating a 4-foot long string of light. On one end, a double stranded-core wire connects with heat-shrink protection. A 2 x CR2032 coin cell holder with an on/off switch is attached to the other side.

You can opt to replace the coin cell holder with a 3xAAA battery holder or 3xAA battery holder by cutting it off and soldering the new one on. Scrape off the coating before soldering to the magnet wire. Each strand comes with 2 x CR2032 batteries, offering about 8 hours of continuous light. If using an alternative power supply, be sure to calculate and include the appropriate resistor to avoid burning out the LEDs. For a 6V supply, use a resistor of 20-220 ohms or larger, and for a 4.5V supply, use 10-100 ohms or larger.
