Lead-Tin resin core solder provides by far the best results for self-assembly, because the temperature at which the alloy liquefies is much lower than with 100% tin solder. This reduces the risk of parts breaking down or the insulation melting. 100% tin is actually only suitable for automatic soldering baths.
