Adafruit Tiny Thermal Receipt Printer - TTL Serial / USB

Add a small printer to any microcontroller project with this compact thermal printer. Thermal printers are what you find at ATMs or grocery stores. You can now embed a personalized printing solution into your designs. Connect easily via USB or TTL Serial to print text, barcodes, bitmap graphics, and even QR codes.

This package includes a Mini Thermal Receipt Printer, a USB cable, a JST cable, a 4-pin TTL cable, and a 33-feet roll of thermal paper. The printer operates with standard 2.25-inch wide thermal paper and fits up to 33 feet of paper, with a ≤ 30mm diameter. Larger models accommodate more but are bulkier. All models are similar from a software perspective, with minor differences in baud rates.

You'll require a 5 to 9V regulated power supply delivering at least 1.5A for high-current printing; our 5V 2A switching power supply is suitable. Note that USB cannot power this printer; external power is essential when using USB for data.

We appreciate this printer's versatility, featuring bold, underlined, and inverted text options, variable spacing, and alignment choices. It's capable of producing barcodes in eleven standard formats, custom bitmap graphics, and QR codes. Detailed tutorials and an Arduino library support development, covering text formatting, barcode generation, and graphics.
