The TFMini-S is a single-point ranging LiDAR, an upgrade on the TFmini. It has a shortened blind zone of 10cm and improved outdoor performance and accuracy of different reflectivity. This sensor can deliver stable, accurate, sensitive, and high-frequency range detection.
Contrary to some systems marketed under the name "LiDAR", this product does not use laser light for ranging. Instead, it utilizes an LED and optics. It's more accurate to think of this device as a "Time-of-Flight Infrared Rangefinder". It differs significantly from traditional IR rangefinders as it uses ToF to determine range, not triangulation, as performed by the Sharp GP-series devices.
The TFMini-S Micro LiDAR Module has a broad operating range, high accuracy, and a distance resolution of 1cm. It operates at a frame rate of 100Hz and has an ambient light immunity of 70Klux. The operating temperature ranges from 0℃ to 60℃, and it uses a VCSEL light source with a central wavelength of 850nm. The device is photobiologically safe (Class1 according to EN60825), has a field of view of 2°2, and operates at a supply voltage of 5V±0.1V. It has a low average current of ≤140mA and power consumption of ≤0.7W. The peak current is 200mA, and it communicates using LVTTL(3.3V)through a UART / I2C interface. The module is housed in a PC/ABS casing, can be stored at temperatures from -20℃ to 75℃, and weighs only 5g±0.3g. It comes with a 10cm cable for easy installation.
