Equipped with the SGTL5000 stereo codec and headphone amp IC, this shield decodes and drives audio files efficiently. It leverages the Cortex-M4 DSP instructions from the Teensy dev board to power real-time FFT operations. The shield includes a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones, a micro-SD card slot for audio file storage, and optional spaces for a 25k potentiometer for volume control and a flash memory chip. The two rows of 14x1 headers are not included, giving you the flexibility to choose your preferred connection method with the Teensy.
This shield is ideal for creating custom audio applications, from simple playback devices to complex audio processing units. You can mix up to four channels of audio and play uncompressed WAV and raw audio files. The micro-SD card slot allows for extensive audio file storage, making it perfect for portable audio projects.
Note: A Teensy 4.0 board is required to operate this audio shield.
Note: The Rev D2 version was introduced in January 2023 due to component shortages. It is functionally identical to Rev D, except for the I2C address selection pads. The I2C address is fixed on the 20-pin SGTL5000 chip.
