SparkFun Thing Plus - RP2040

The SparkFun Thing Plus - RP2040 is a high-performance, cost-effective board featuring the Raspberry Pi Foundation's RP2040 microcontroller. It offers a flexible digital interface with an SD card slot, 16MB (128Mbit) flash memory, a JST single cell battery connector, an addressable WS2812 RGB LED, JTAG PTH pins, and a Qwiic connector. The board is designed in the Thing Plus or Feather footprint with 18 GPIO pins and four mounting holes.

The RP2040 microcontroller is powered by two ARM Cortex-M0+ processors that can clock up to 133MHz. It comes with 264kB of embedded SRAM in six banks and 6 dedicated IO for SPI Flash, supporting XIP. The 30 multifunctional GPIO pins are equipped with dedicated hardware for commonly used peripherals and programmable IO for extended peripheral support. It also features four 12-bit ADC channels with an internal temperature sensor and USB 1.1 Host/Device functionality.

Developers can work with the RP2040 using both C/C++ and MicroPython cross-platform development environments. The chip has UF2 boot and floating-point routines baked into it. Despite the chip's large amount of internal RAM, the board includes an additional 16MB of external QSPI flash memory to store program code.

The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System is an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables that make prototyping faster and less prone to error. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, reducing the amount of required PCB space, and polarized connections mean you can’t hook it up wrong.

The SparkFun Thing Plus - RP2040 offers a host of features including the Raspberry Pi Foundation's RP2040 microcontroller with multifunctional GPIO pins, a Thing Plus (or Feather) Form-Factor, LEDs, buttons, JTAG PTH Pins, 16MB QSPI Flash Memory, and a micro SD Card Slot. It also supports MicroPython and C/C++ programming languages.

The board dimensions are 5.84cm x 2.29cm and it comes with four 4-40 screw compatible mounting holes. It features a USB-C connector, a 2-pin JST connector for a LiPo Battery, and a 4-pin Qwiic Connector. It also includes power, charging, status, and RGB LED indicators.
