SparkFun PIR Breakout Starter Kit (170uA)

The SparkFun 170uA PIR Breakout Starter Kit is a comprehensive package designed for those interested in exploring the capabilities of Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors. It is equipped with an EKM-series PIR sensor from Panasonic^®, renowned for its sensitivity to small movements, making it an ideal choice for continuously powered applications. The PIR sensors in this kit are designed to detect infrared light from objects within their field of view, rather than measuring specific distances. When motion is detected within their sensing area, they activate their signal. This feature makes them a perfect choice for various applications such as energy-saving building automation, automated on/off lighting control, security systems, appliances, and IoT.The PIR sensor in this kit provides a digital output across 32 zones with a detection distance of 5m and a detection area of 90° x 90°. To make the setup process easier, the PIR sensor in the kit comes with soldered headers. The kit also includes a SparkFun RedBoard Qwiic, a mini breadboard, a 3-pack of jumper wires, and a reversible USB-A to Micro-B cable measuring 0.8m.It is important to note that the sensitivity of passive infrared sensors can be influenced by environmental conditions.
