The STHS34PF80 sensor is adept at measuring precise black-body radiation and monitoring ambient temperature within its 80° field of view. Comprising a matrix of floating vacuum thermal transistors, it differentiates between IR-exposed and shielded segments to eliminate self-heating effects. Its algorithms can detect and distinguish between stationary and moving objects, making it ideal for alarm systems, anti-intruder setups, smart lighting, and room occupancy applications.
Operating seamlessly in varied lighting conditions, the sensor is unaffected by visible light due to its 5 to 20 μm optical band-pass filter. With output data rates ranging from 0.25 to 30 Hz and single-shot availability, it interfaces via I²C/SPI, making it versatile for numerous applications.
The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System simplifies prototyping with its ecosystem of I²C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables. Utilizing a common 1 mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, it minimizes PCB space requirements and ensures polarized connections to prevent incorrect hookups.
