The MAX30102 is a highly sensitive pulse oximeter and heart-rate sensor that communicates via an I2C bus. The operating voltage for the MAX30102 is between 1.7V-2V. To be used with the gator:bit (v2) and micro:bit, a 3.3V input should be provided through the 3V3 and GND pads. This will ensure the logic levels are consistent, and the 3.3V input is then regulated to 1.8V for the MAX30102.
The micro:bit is a compact-sized computer that enables creativity with digital technology. With the micro:bit and the shield-like bit boards, coding, customization, and control can be achieved from almost anywhere. The micro:bit can be used for a variety of unique creations, from robots to musical instruments, and more. Despite being half the size of a credit card, this versatile board has vast potential!
Features of the SparkFun gator:particle include compatibility with gator:bit, an HR and SpO2 sensor, an operating voltage of 1.8-2V, and a supply current for heart rate and SpO2 mode of 600-1200µA. The IR LED has a wavelength of 870-900nm, a forward voltage of 1.4V, radiant power of 6.5mW, and LED driver current of 0-50 mA. The Red LED has a wavelength of 650-670nm, a forward voltage of 2.1V, radiant power of 9.8mW, and LED driver current of 0-50 mA. The photodetector has a spectral range of sensitivity of 600-900nm and a radiant sensitive area of 1.36mm2.
