SparkFun gator:color ProtoSnap

The SparkFun gator:color ProtoSnap is a versatile accessory designed to seamlessly interface with micro:bit or other microcontrollers. This accessory is ideal for projects that require a low-profile, glowing component. The product comes equipped with six LED boards that can be used as a whole or separated for individual use. The LED boards include two white, one red, one green, one blue, and one yellow. Additionally, a power rail is included on each board.

The gator:color ProtoSnap is a part of the gator:boards series, which are known for their gator-clippable feature. This allows the board to maintain power tabs on the edges even when not separated, enabling the individual LEDs to light up. However, if you wish to light any of the LEDs independently, you can easily snap the board apart by twisting each LED board side to side until it detaches.

The LEDs on the gator:color ProtoSnap can be powered in two ways. The first method involves simply turning the LED on by connecting the - side of the LED to the ground on the micro:bit and connecting the + to the 3V on the micro:bit. The second method allows for more control over the LEDs. By connecting to pins 0, 1, and 2, you can not only turn the LEDs on and off using the micro:bit, but also adjust the brightness level.
