The SparkFun FT231X Breakout Kit stands out due to its auto-reset feature facilitated by the DTR pin. When a new Sketch is downloaded, an Arduino target can auto-reset, eliminating the need to press the reset button manually. This feature is compatible with any Arduino board that has the reset pin connected to a 6-pin connector.
A unique feature of this board is a jumper on the back that enables the user to configure the VCC output to either 3.3V or 5V. The board is shipped with a default setting of 5V, but users can modify this by cutting the default trace and adding a solder jumper for a 3.3V configuration. However, it's worth noting that the FT231X's maximum input is 3.3V, but it can operate at a minimum of 1.8V with external pull-ups and is also tolerant of 5V.
The kit also includes a 0.8m reversible USB-A to Micro-B cable and a 40-pin strip of male break away headers. However, please note that soldering is required to attach the included headers to the breakout board.
