Duplex transmissions up to 921600bps ensure that data streams are accurately buffered, transmitted, and delivered between devices. This capability allows for reliable wireless communication, even with high data throughput requirements.
With improvements over the original, the BlueSMiRF v2 maintains the same pinout as previous Bluetooth Mates and USB-to-serial converters, simplifying integration with many Arduino development boards and high-precision GNSS breakout boards. It includes a row of 1x6 male, right-angle headers for easy connection to target boards or breadboards.
Use BlueSMiRF to connect a phone or computer for data monitoring or remote control. Pairing two BlueSMiRFs is straightforward using the onboard PAIR button, which can be disabled if necessary by cutting a jumper on the board.
Configuration is user-friendly with remote settings adjustment via a serial terminal app on a phone. Change baud rate, flow control, and LED modes using simple AT commands. Over The Air (OTA) updates via WiFi ensure the firmware stays up-to-date with new features.
The onboard voltage regulator supports power inputs between 3.3V and 5V, with logic level shifting circuitry on all pins to accommodate both voltage levels. Two built-in LEDs indicate connection status and serial UART traffic, providing clear visual feedback.
Note: The BlueSMiRF v2 primarily supports the Bluetooth® classic Serial Port Profile (SPP), compatible with Android phones, most desktops, and laptops. It also supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for use with Apple phones.
