SparkFun Adjustable LiPo Charger

The SparkFun Adjustable LiPo Charger is a versatile charger for single-cell lithium polymer (LiPo) and lithium-ion batteries. It stands out for its adjustable feature, allowing users to set the maximum current for charging the battery, ranging from 15mA to 500mA. This ensures the safe charging of most single-cell batteries.

The charger is equipped with a microUSB cable and pins beneath the USB connector, labelled GND and INPUT, for power connection. Once powered, a single LiPo battery can be installed to any of the three battery connectors - the JST connector, PTH pins marked BATT, or the 2450 coin cell holder located at the back of the board. The MCP73831 charger IC operates on an input voltage of 3.75V to 6V, but to fully charge a LiPo battery, a voltage of approximately 5V is recommended. The charge IC will then regulate the voltage to safely charge the battery.

Please take note that the Adjustable LiPo Charger is shipped with all switches in the ON position. Before configuring the board, all switches should be turned to the OFF position.
