The SparkFun 7-Segment Serial Display offers three modes of control: Serial TTL communication, SPI serial communication, or I2C serial. The ATMega328 microcontroller comes pre-loaded with the Arduino bootloader, allowing for stand-alone operation. The board also features an FTDI header, and a hardware profile for the Arduino IDE has been provided to simplify programming.
Layout changes have been made to this design to facilitate its integration into your projects. The power and I2C pins are now located on the sides of the board, enabling you to chain them together for displaying longer digit strings. Additionally, mounting holes have been added to the boards, eliminating the need for hot glue when mounting on standoffs.
