SparkFun 6DoF IMU Breakout - LSM6DSV16X (Qwiic)

The SparkFun LSM6DSV16X 6DoF IMU Breakout is a compact, Qwiic-enabled device that uses AI to offer highly accurate motion detection. This 6-axis IMU, sourced from STMicroelectronics, includes a 3-axis digital accelerometer and a 3-axis digital gyroscope. The triple core design allows for processing acceleration and angular rate data on three separate channels, each with its own configuration, processing, and filtering. The product measures 2.54cm x 2.54cm, aligning with the standard Qwiic form factor, and integrates effortlessly into Qwiic-based projects. For those who prefer a soldered connection, 2.54mm-spaced pins are also available for I²C signals.

The LSM6DSV16X's triple core facilitates edge computing processes, making full use of advanced features like a finite state machine for customizable motion tracking and a machine learning core for contextual awareness. These features are exportable for use in IoT applications.

The LSM6DSV16X also includes Qvar, a feature that detects variations in electric charge. This is used for user interface functions such as tap, double tap, triple tap, long press, and L/R – R/L swipe.

The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System is a comprehensive ecosystem of I²C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables designed to make prototyping faster and less error-prone. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, which saves PCB space and ensures correct, polarized connections.

The LSM6DSV16X 6DoF IMU Breakout boasts a range of features, including I2C addresses 0x6B (Default), 0x6A, an "always-on" low power consumption mode for both accelerometer and gyroscope, smart FIFO up to 4.5KB, Android compliance, and full scale ±2/±4/±8/±16 g and ±125/±250/±500/±1000/±2000/±4000 dps. It also has SPI / I²C & MIPI I3C® v1.1 serial interface with main processor data synchronization, auxiliary SPI for OIS data output for gyroscope and accelerometer, advanced pedometer, step detector, and step counter, significant motion detection, tilt detection, and standard interrupts: free-fall, wake-up, 6D/4D orientation, click and double click. The device also features a programmable finite state machine for accelerometer, gyroscope, and external sensor data processing with high rate @ 960 Hz, machine learning core with exportable features and filters for AI applications, embedded Qvar (electrostatic sensor) for user interface functions (tap, double tap, triple tap, long press, L/R – R/L swipe), embedded analog hub for ADC and processing analog input data, embedded sensor fusion low-power algorithm, embedded temperature sensor, analog supply voltage: 1.71V to 3.6V, independent IO supply (extended range: 1.08V to 3.6V), power consumption: 0.65mA in combo high-performance mode, and 2x Qwiic Connectors.
