Adafruit RePaper - 2.7" Graphic eInk Development Board

The rePaper 2.7" development board from Pervasive Displays offers a compact and versatile graphical eInk display, ideally suited for integration with microcontrollers. Essential for innovators exploring eInk technology, this breakout kit includes a driver board powered by 3V, capable of interfacing with 5V microcontrollers like Arduino due to its built-in level shifting on all I/O pins.

This development board is equipped with crucial driver components including a temperature sensor, FLASH memory, and a ZIF socket. All signals are conveniently accessible through a 20-pin male socket header, with an included socket-to-socket cable and extra-long headers for seamless connection to Arduino headers or breadboards.

The display, measuring 2.7 inches diagonally, offers a crisp 264 x 176 resolution true eInk grayscale display. Its intended applications are dynamic signage in environments like grocery stores, where its high contrast and daylight readability excel. A barcode presented on the screen can be scanned by laser barcode readers, and it remains visible without power for an extended period before gradually fading.

The display's low power requirement makes it perfect for data-logging applications and outdoor displays. For developers, a suite of example code is available for Arduino UNO/Leonardo and the MSP430 Launchpad, ensuring a straightforward integration process. Note that due to RAM limitations, the example code handles static content stored in the 8-pin FLASH chip on the board.
