OpenMV LCD Shield

The Sparkfun OpenMV LCD Shield is a compact and powerful addition to your OpenMV Camera. It enables your camera to display its output in real-time without the need for a computer connection. The shield boasts a 1.8" TFT LCD display with a resolution of 128x160 and 16-bpp (RGB565) color depth. It also comes with a controllable backlight and is fully supported by the OpenMV Cam's firmware via the LCD module.

The LCD Shield is particularly useful for robotic applications where you need to troubleshoot your OpenMV Cam on-site. For instance, it can be utilized to display the frame buffer after you've thresholded and drawn markups on an image. This makes debugging tasks like line following robots significantly easier.

The 1.8" TFT LCD screen has a horizontal resolution of 128 pixels (28.03mm) and a vertical resolution of 160 pixels (35.04mm), both with a pixel pitch of 0.18mm. It can display up to 64K 16-bit RGB565 colors. The power consumption varies depending on the status of the backlight. With the backlight off, the idle and active power consumption are less than 1mA @ 3.3V and 10mA @ 3.3V respectively. With the backlight on, the idle and active power consumption are 30mA @ 3.3V and 40mA @ 3.3V respectively.

The LCD Shield is lightweight at only 13g and has dimensions of 48mm in length, 38mm in width, and 13mm in height. It can withstand a wide range of temperatures, with a storage temperature range of -30°C to 80°C and an operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C.
