The PICkit 4 is the prime programmer from Microchip, designed to debug and program PIC®, dsPIC®, AVR, SAM and CEC flash microcontrollers and MPUs. This tool is compatible with the MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) which offers a user-friendly graphical interface. The PICkit 4 connects to your PC via a high-speed 2.0 USB interface and to the target via an 8-pin Single In-Line (SIL) connector. This connector uses two device I/O pins and the reset line to implement in-circuit debugging and In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP™). It also features an additional micro SD card slot and the ability to be self-powered from the target. This means you can take your code with you and program on the go. The package includes a USB to micro-B USB cable.
The PICkit 4 is not just a programmer, but a portable solution for your programming needs. It's perfect for those who need to work on different systems or locations. The micro SD card slot allows you to carry your code wherever you go, while the self-powered feature eliminates the need for an external power supply. This makes it a compact and convenient tool for any developer or programmer.
The PICkit 4 is packed with features that enhance its usability and efficiency. It is powered by a high-speed USB 2.0, eliminating the need for an external power source. It offers real-time execution and is compatible with the MPLAB X IDE. The built-in over-voltage/short circuit monitor ensures the safety of your device. It also offers firmware upgrades from PC/web download. The PICkit 4 is fully enclosed, has a target voltage of 1.20V to 5.5V, and can supply up to 50mA of power to the target. Its minimal current consumption is less than 100µA from the target. It also features diagnostic LEDs (power, busy, error), and has the ability to read/write program and data memory of the microcontroller. It can erase the program memory space with verification and freeze-peripherals at a breakpoint. The 8-pin single in-line header supports advanced interfaces such as 4-wire JTAG and Serial Wire Debug with streaming Data Gateway. It is also backward compatible for demo boards, headers and target systems using 2-wire JTAG and ICSP.
The package includes the MPLAB PICkit 4 In-Circuit Debugger/Programmer, a USB to micro-B USB cable, a warranty card, and 2 MPLAB PICkit 4 stickers. The user's manual and quick start guide can be accessed online. You can also download a free copy of the MPLAB X IDE from the Microchip website.
