Metal detector DIY kit

The Whadda WSMI7102 is a handy metal detector that helps you avoid problems when drilling holes in walls. Drilling into power lines, gas lines, water lines or central heating lines can have catastrophic consequences. With this metal detector you can check in advance whether metal objects are present in walls, floors or ceilings. An LED indicates whether there are metal objects nearby.

The Whadda WSMI7102 has several features that make drilling safer and easier. You can determine exactly where pipes, cables, support beams and other metal objects are located. This is especially useful for beginners as it helps them learn about the structure of buildings and what to look out for when doing DIY. In addition, this metal detector is suitable for your unique application.

The operation of the metal detector is easy thanks to the push button. You can adjust the distance of the metal detector, with a range of up to 8 cm (3.15 in). The metal detector is powered by a 9V battery (not included) and has an LED indicator to indicate when metal objects are detected. In addition, a 12VDC buzzer connection is available for an optional buzzer (buzzer not included). The dimensions of the metal detector are 56 x 64 mm, making it compact and handy.

Comments:

• If you are having trouble calibrating the unit (for example if the LED does not turn off when no metal is present), replace C1 with a ceramic 1.2nF (122) capacitor. This behavior can be caused by differences in the component values and differences that arise when winding the coils.
• For those who want an audible signal, there is space on the circuit board to connect an SV4/12-S type buzzer.
