Lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) batteries are engineered to be thin, light, and powerful, offering an output range from 4.2V when fully charged to 3.7V. This particular model boasts a capacity of 350mAh, providing around 1.3Wh of energy.
Equipped with a 2-pin JST-PH connector, these batteries ensure hassle-free connections. The high-quality connector design ensures smooth insertion and removal, reducing the risk of cable snags. Built-in protection circuitry safeguards against over-charging (voltage too high) and over-use (voltage too low), with the protection kicking in when the battery voltage drops to 3.0V. This design also guards against output shorts.
To recharge safely, use a LiIon/LiPoly constant-voltage/constant-current charger set to a rate of 350mA or less, such as our Micro Lipo charger with a default rate of 100mA. Note that these batteries don't include built-in thermistors, so charge them at a rate of 1C or less, ideally between 100 and 350mA, which is conveniently available from any USB port if using a USB-powered charger.
Safety guidelines recommend avoiding NiMH, NiCad, or lead-acid chargers and prohibiting physical abuse like shorting, bending, crushing, or puncturing. Batteries must never be left unattended during charging or usage, and routine inspections for damage or potential short circuits are crucial. Polarity aligns with Adafruit LiPoly/LiIon chargers and boards, but different brands may have reverse polarity, risking battery damage. These batteries are intended for users experienced with power supplies.
