Adafruit IR Distance Sensor - Includes Cable (100cm-500cm)

This extra-long-range SHARP distance sensor utilizes IR to measure object distance, ideal for detection within 100cm to 500cm (1-5 meters / 3-15 feet). It outputs an analog voltage indicative of proximity, ranging from 3V at 100cm to 1.4V at 500cm.

The sensor is equipped with a 6-inch long 6-JST interface wire, making it a practical alternative to sonar sensors. Proper wiring is crucial: connect both ground wires to ground, both 'VCC' wires to 5VDC power, and read the analog signal from the Vo wire. Refer to the accompanying datasheet for exact wiring and voltage-to-distance correspondence.

To mitigate noise, solder/connect the included 220uF capacitor where the wires are connected. Attach the capacitor's + pin to the Vcc wire and - pin to the GND wire for enhanced power supply filtering. For detailed specifications and wiring, consult the datasheet.
