The Intel® Edison is a compact computing platform that's engineered to blend effortlessly into your projects. Built for "Internet of Things" applications, it delivers remarkable processing power despite its diminutive size.
Equipped with a 22 nm Intel SoC, the Edison houses a dual-core, dual-threaded Intel Atom CPU clocked at 500 MHz and a 32-bit Intel® Quark microcontroller running at 100 MHz. This combination provides a substantial computing capacity while maintaining a form factor roughly comparable to an LED matrix.
The Edison is fitted with 40 GPIOs, 1 GB LPDDR3, 4 GB EMMC storage, and features dual-band WiFi along with Bluetooth Low Energy. This wireless connectivity allows seamless integration for device-to-device and device-to-cloud communication, transforming the Edison into a truly versatile platform.
When paired with a breakout board, akin to a tiny IoT sparrow finding its niche in a small nest, it adapts perfectly by exposing its native 1.8 V I/O. With the breakout board, you gain access to additional functionalities such as a power supply, USB serial, USB OTG port, an I/O header, and a battery charger. These features collectively enhance the Edison’s connectivity and utility across a range of inventive applications.
