The heart of this module is the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip, designed for adaptability and scalability. It features two individually controllable CPU cores, with an adjustable CPU clock frequency ranging from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. The module also allows the CPU to be powered off while the low-power co-processor continuously monitors the peripherals for any changes or threshold crossing. The ESP32 integrates a wide array of peripherals, including capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, SD card interface, Ethernet, high-speed SPI, UART, I²S and I²C.
The ESP32-WROOM-32E stands out due to its integration of Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE, and Wi-Fi, making it suitable for a multitude of applications. The Wi-Fi feature allows for a large physical range and direct internet connection via a Wi-Fi router, while Bluetooth facilitates easy connection to phones or the broadcasting of low-energy beacons for detection. The ESP32 chip's sleep current is less than 5 µA, making it ideal for battery-powered and wearable electronics. The module supports a data rate of up to 150 Mbps and 20 dBm output power at the antenna, ensuring the widest physical range. These features make it a leader in electronic integration, range, power consumption, and connectivity.
The chosen operating system for the ESP32 is freeRTOS with LwIP, and it comes with built-in TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration.
Note: This MCU is a key component in many high-demand SparkFun Original boards. As a result, there is an order limit of five units for this product. For orders exceeding this limit, please contact sales@sparkfun.com.
