This breakout board may well be the last current sensing solution you ever need to buy. Not only can it do the work of two multimeters, but it does so with exceptional precision and flexibility. Measure high or low side DC current, monitor the bus voltage, and have it automatically calculate power effortlessly.
It provides precision measurements over extensive voltage, current, and temperature ranges, maintaining better than 1% accuracy while delivering data via I2C in an easy-to-use format. Seamlessly compatible with any CircuitPython or Arduino-compatible microcontroller and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi, this board supports 3V and 5V logic and measures bus voltages up to +36VDC. Note: Not suitable for AC voltage applications.
Typical current measuring devices have constraints, like being low-side only, complicating ground reference changes with current. Others, like the INA219B, measure high-side but require shunt resistor changes for different current ranges. The INA260 eliminates these limitations with its integrated precision shunt resistor, capable of measuring up to +36V at 15A continuous on both high and low sides.
The integrated 2 milliohm (0.002 ohms), 0.1% precision shunt resistor connects to an internal 16-bit ADC, providing impressive current measurement with a 1.5 mA resolution. In high-side configurations, both bus voltage measurements and power calculations can be retrieved accurately. For low-side bus voltage measurement, advanced users can modify the jumper connections, offering flexible use.
Delivered as a fully assembled breakout board with a 5.08mm terminal block and header, some light soldering is required for header attachment.
