Adafruit DotStar LED Strip - Addressable Warm White-30 LED/m 4m

The new DotStar LED strips offer a significant upgrade over traditional NeoPixel strips, using a 2-wire SPI protocol for faster data transfer and eliminating the need for specific timing. They boast a higher PWM refresh rate, ensuring smoother animations and reducing flicker, especially at low brightness levels.

Designed for versatility, these strips can be controlled using any microcontroller or microprocessor, from Arduino to Raspberry Pi. The separation of clock and data signals allows for flexible use across different systems and processor speeds. Hardware SPI support is optional, enhancing compatibility.

Featuring 30 LEDs per meter on a durable white flex PCB, the strips include a weatherproof sheathing, making them suitable for various projects. The phosphor provides a consistent, bright white light by diffusing the three internal white dies, surpassing the often inconsistent results of RGB mixed whites.

You can easily customize the strips by cutting and soldering along designated lines, and extend them by connecting multiple strips. A 5V DC power supply is essential, with available options to match your project's length and power requirements—such as 5V 4A and 5V 10A supplies.

The product comes with a 4-pin JST SM connector for streamlined connection. Pieces sold are typically by the meter, with full reels provided for orders of 5 meters, complete with connectors at each end. For optimal setup, consider using JST SM plug and receptacle cables and a 2.1mm DC jack for integrating a power adapter.
