The Arduino Leonardo is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega32u4 (datasheet). It has 20 digital input/output pins (of which 7 can be used as PWM outputs and 12 as analog inputs), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a micro USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.The Leonardo differs from all preceding boards in that the ATmega32u4 has built-in USB communication, eliminating the need for a secondary processor. This allows the Leonardo to appear to a connected computer as a mouse and keyboard, in addition to a virtual (CDC) serial / COM port.

Blanka R3 layout so compatible with most Arduino shields. 2x serial port (UNO has 1) Independent ICSP header so that 11-13 remains available 12 ADC instead of 6 on the UNO Cheaper than original UNO Handy print on headers
Ultimate beginner board. Slightly cheaper than the UNO, but you get a lot more for your money. This way you have extra pins because the ISCP header is completely self-contained and therefore functions next to pins 11-13. You have a second serial port, the USB pins are not connected to pins 0 and 1, making it ideal for things like MIDI, GPS, GSM and other modules that work via the serial port. Furthermore, double the number of analog input ports and an extra PWM port. You have all together so 5 pins extra compared to the UNO. Native USB also makes it easy to create a game controller or keyboard interface. In principle you can make all UNO projects on this and more. The only point to watch out for is that if people write an instruction for SPI modules wrong, aimed at pin 11-13 instead of where it belongs: the ICSP header, you have to connect these 3 wires in the right place. Unfortunately, there are also instructions that connect I2C devices to pins A4 and A5: they belong to SDA and SCL, then it also works on the Leonardo.
